‘Ive never really thought of myself as someone who would get married, so when my partner asked me to marry him on our holiday in Sri Lanka, it was a huge and lovely surprise. Fast forward to wedding planning and the dress part is something that really stressed me out but also excited me, you see I love fashion but I’m plus size and being in a bigger body can sometimes be difficult to dress and also feel comfortable. I knew that I didn’t want a traditional dress and I had followed Lucy Can’t Dance for a few years on Instagram (she loves tropical and Bowie as much as me). For me there wasn’t any other brand that could do what I wanted. I booked an appointment with a dress in mind and went on a sunny morning from Bristol with my mum in tow to find my dress. When we got there Lucy was so welcoming with Prosecco and a big smile, she left us to our own devices when looking at the beautiful dresses available and helped in any way possible when answering all our questions. I came out of the appointment with a completely different dress to the one I had in mind, a huge amount of excitement and the best of all stress free. I was lucky enough to find my dress in one viewing with my first choice dress maker, although I think Lucy and her team are talented enough to help anyone get the exact dress they desire. Over the coming months, I regularly messaged Lucy about adaptations for the dress and even changed my mind on the colour a few times, she even sent me swatches of colour variations so that I had something tangible in mind when making my decision. When the day came to try my final design on, I was so nervous that it wouldn’t flatter me but as soon as I put it on I felt incredible. The dress was beautiful, looked exactly how I had imagined and just felt so me! The quality of the dress is second to none and I still regularly get it out and put it on. On the day I had comments from so many people, even passers by who said the dress was so unique and beautiful. To anyone considering Lucy for their wedding dress, I say do it, you won’t be disappointed! My dress looked amazing for my Tropical Fairytale of a wedding. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! Xxx’
